Duplos

DUPLOS presents a series of diptychs, each offering two perspectives of the same event. Two images, different moments of a single situation.

This duplicity does not seek to clarify but to extend. As in language, where meaning deepens through synonyms and variations, the diptych stretches perception. It prolongs the act of looking, sustaining ambiguity, and inviting the viewer to follow the space between one image and the other.

Placed side by side, the two paintings suggest sequence, even movement — a cinematic still. Yet painting resists the speed of film; it slows time, allowing the viewer to inhabit the interval, to dwell in the unfolding of an encounter.

The works return to everyday situations — familiar, almost banal — yet ones that slip beyond the ordinary, moments “almost not special.” In DUPLOS, the double frame opens these moments outward, multiplying points of entry and ways of apprehending the phenomenon.
